  Monthly Newsletter: September Review

Please send news snippets (pony club activities, show results, general newsy stuff – for example new horses or ponies, cool experiences, help needed or stuff for sale) and we will do our best to include!

October Calender

  • October 2nd: Annual Sponsor and General Meeting: Warrenville Fire Station 6-8pm. Officers will be appointed for next year and 2017 calendar will be discussed - be there if you can!! Vet talk and study sessions …come prepared with your questions on horse health for the vet!
  • October 9th: Danada Fall Festival: Fall fun demo in front of hundreds! Mary Neverly and Lucy are coordinating – even if you don’t plan to participate, call in to watch our demos – this is a really fun event!
  • October 15th: Fall Certification at Baythorne Farm 9a – 4p: Auditors welcome – and RECOMMENDED for new members – come and see what your pony clubbers are working towards.
  • October 22nd:  Mounted Instruction at Resurrection Ranch: noon to 4 p.m. Abby and Jane McDowell. Let Mary Kolzow know if you plan to attend!

November Calendar

  • Nov 5, Sat: NCPR Annual Meeting and Education Day in Peoria ** This is an officer meeting to plan for 2017! Get your requests in NOW or forever hold your peace ? There are also great study sessions for HM – so pencil it in.  Details coming out from Region soon!
  • Nov 6, Sun, 6-8 p.m. General Meeting: Warrenville Fire Station 6-8pm Teachers:  D Level: Ashley/Footing-Shoeing, C Level: Sarah/Footing-Shoeing
  • Nov 12, Sat: CPR/First Aid Training at Warrenville Fire Station w/ special BONUS of Fire Extinguisher Training/USE on REAL FIRES: if you have yet to sign up, get your numbers in to Kathy Cieslak asp! Kathy will have Fire Dept Forms to fill out at Oct 2 Meeting (will also email out to all).
  • Nov 19, Sat: Mounted Instruction at Richardson Farm, noon to 4 p.m. Instructor TBA

September Review

September 10th: D Level Schooling Show

What a fun event!! Great riding and LOTS of learning: all riders did really well – thanks go out to Mellissa and Mary Kolzow for all the hard work in setting up the show, Abby McDowell for working the dressage arena as scribe, and the wonderful Sarah Coltrin for jumping judging and coaching. Get your entries in early for the next show on Dec 10th !

September 11th: General Meeting and Winter Season kick off

Great to see such a huge turnout for our winter season kick off – as you know this is the start of joint study sessions for the HM certificates – and our regional spring Quiz Rally.

It was inspirational to hear from Sarah Coltrin about her successful B test experience: hard work, perseverance, and determination pay off!

September 17th: Fall Certification Prep at Baythorne Farm

General News

Please send news and results for this section to me during show season!

  • Dates are out for National Pony Club Championships and FESTIVAL at the Kentucky Horse Park in 2017. This is a don’t miss opportunity to participate in competitions, lessons, clinics, HM tuition, etc. etc. all in one place. This only occurs once every three years – and it’s a GREAT experience!! Pencil it in – even if you don’t intend to ride, it’s a GREAT chance to participate in unmounted instruction from some of the top clinicians in the country. JULY 17TH – 24th!!
  • Eventers! Apply for those Pony Club Recognition Awards!!
    USPC Pony Club members will be recognized for their competition efforts both in USPC and USEA. USPC members will receive a certificate at the end of each year based on the criteria as outlined on the website. It will be the responsibility of the Pony Club member to get all the information together and send it to the National Office by November 15th of each year. All competitions must be done during the current year. Interested Pony Club members should get their applications here, or from the forms section of the USPC website.
  •  High Schoolers!! Apply now for your 2016 USEF Equestrian High School Athlete Award!! Details on the USEF Page: Great recognition and looks good on those college applications! Pony Club Rallies, clinics etc. all count toward the awards.
  • Requests have come in to add a section with upcoming clinics in the area – if you know any coming up which may be of interest to PC members let us know!

For Sale Items

  • Some NICE horses and ponies currently being advertised on the NCPR FB Page …tried and true solid citizens!! If you are shopping, check it out!!

Success in Pony Club is not about being better than somebody else...it’s about improving yourself and encouraging others!
